comparison
Ive recently been looking at buying a 2nd gen Rx-7. Ive heard a lot of horror stories but they seem to have a cult following. But then i saw the 1990-1995 mr2. Now i cant decide. i thought the only body style other than the new spyder was the ugly boxy pre "90s cars. i was just hoping for a comparison between the two in the $3,000 range. both would probably be non N/A because of the price

Re: comparison
non n/a means turbo means 10k$ for the mk2 mr2 turbo and in the 4-5k$ range for a nice looking T2
i'd get an mr2, seriously, a n/a mk2 over a n/a Fc |

Re: comparison
the mk2 mr2's had a change in suspension geometry for the 1993 year release.
i wouldn't say they had an oversteer "problem" but they do like to step the back end out. then again, so did my FC...

Re: comparison
i originally wrote non turbo then changed it to N/A but forgot to delete the non.
the over steer was because it has more weight in the back than the front. This makes me lean more towards the the fc because of the 50/50 distribution. but on the other hand im looking for which one would be more fun to drive. Personally I like a car that can be a little tail happy. |

Re: comparison
Test drive them both & see what fits your driving tastes...
The RX-7's can VERY reliable...However they use oil by design... Seems its a bit much for some people to check the oil every month... Actually, I have owned both the NA & Turbo versions of the RX-7's and they are great handling cars...In todays world, the NA versions are pretty slow though, you really need to wind them out to get them to perform... They also offer quite a bit more room in the hatch area... Good luck/skill! I found some nice ones in Michigan before. (Now in Indy) |
