comparison

Ive recently been looking at buying a 2nd gen Rx-7. Ive heard a lot of horror stories but they seem to have a cult following. But then i saw the 1990-1995 mr2. Now i cant decide. i thought the only body style other than the new spyder was the ugly boxy pre "90s cars. i was just hoping for a comparison between the two in the $3,000 range. both would probably be non turbo because of the price

Re: comparison

i sold my 2nd gen rx7 so i could drive my mr2 more

what comparisons are you looking for exactly? you can probably look up stats on the cars... but as for road feel , (IMHO) the mr2 outperforms the rx7; but the rx7 is an easier car to drive.

Re: comparison

Ive been rally racing for 4 years now and run time trials on weekends so i know how to handle a car.

i just want something to drive for the sheer fun of driving it.

Im impresed with the 50/50 weight dist. in the rx7 and with the 9,000rpm redline but i dont like the poor low end touque from the rotary.

Ive heard the mr2 likes to get sidways in the turns but I Rallyed with the notoriusly tail happy Starion with 400hp in the dirt. I love to slide.

So i guess my point is witch one would i have more fun with on the street?

Re: comparison

probably the mr2, in my expierence the snap oversteer with the rx7 was much worse and that was really the only thing i worried about with the car.
