2002 2.4l

I read on Consumerguide.com
(http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2497)
that:

The 2.4-liter engine+s hydraulic lash adjusters, although functional, may be too noisy for some people and quieter replacements are available with larger oil holes.

assuming this is true.. does anyone know if this is actually
done at no cost? My mom has a 2002 with the 4cyl engine
and its ridiculously loud.. and has gotten worse with age.
She has a little under 40,000miles on it, and it has definitely
lost power... which being underpowered in the first place, isnt
a good thing..

also, the trans is starting to slip into 2nd..and not shifting
as smoothly into the other gears... should we take the car
in to get checked out? or just let the trans. eventually go?

thanks

There is a TSB 02-20-004 out that describes this chang of the Hydralic Adjusters. If the vehicle is under warranty, there should be no charge of the fix up.

You should take the vehciel in and have them do the tsb mentioned abve. While its there, explainto them about the not shifting problem also. i do believe there is a tsb about that as well.

Look in Webtech. (Never been to Webtech, go here first)

TS out
