my 91 metro won't start...help!
my dad and i tried fixing it, or rather he tried what he could and i watched, but anyhow, he thought it was the coil, but it still won't start and I don't have money to consult a mechanic or anyone, so i found this site and i'm hoping someone can help me. the fuel pump is working according to my grandpa and my dad says we have power going to the coil but not from the coil. we got a used coil and replaced the old one, but, like i said, it still won't start.
any suggestions? oh, and I don't have user's manual, so if you could locate the parts that you describe, it would be very helpful. thanks much... |

might be the ignition module, if its not mounted under the coil then its inside the distributor

Pull the distributor cap off and see if the rotor is turning. If not, then the timing belt is probably gone. With the belt busted, you get nothing from the coil. Takes about an hour or less to change and a belt isn't that expensive. Be sure to line up the timing marks on the cams when replacing the belt. The marks are on the block and cams themselves. The timing belt is under the cover on the front of the engine, (right side of car). Hope this helps.
