Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
I know sum of ya are thinking this is a dumb thread n all but yesterday one of my friends came through to visit and he has a 90 std 4 spd, i use to have one and it had 212k on it but u know what, my friends had there Si's and h22 ludes but when they hoped into my economy rocket with its 2 fuels injectors and a lousy geared 4 spd they were actually impressed! my car only had 70hp to the crank! w.e that engine code was d15b7? neways i took off the carb over.. the black thingy and i fully advanced my timing all the way and that sucked in air like a 1000hp TT supra lol.. i couldnt ever get 2nd tho with my 00 si rims, but neways enough running my mouth, i wanna know whose impressed with there lil std/dx hatchies out there. They last forever if u baby um and give oil changes regulary. when i dropped my a6/z6 mini me in it was a huge difference.. but by spring i got a fully turbo preped ls/vtec-gsr- project ready to be dropped in, but sumtimes i miss the old reliable d15b7

Re: Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
D15B7 was the 102 hp in the 5th gens. The base 4spd 70hp beast is the D15B1. I'll admit, I love the fact that it gets 40 mpg all the time and what ever u push at it, it keeps going. But having only 70hp and a 4spd suck bigtime. The car was only meant for fuel economy and never was meant for anything else.
Just the other day, my friends are riding with me and saying "oh, u shift to early" or "your going to slow" Well just can't see the fact that when you get to 3000rpms, the engine pretty much doesn't push any more and since the engine gets the mileage it does, I like to shift really earlier and see if I can get any more mileage outta it. But yeah, I hate it mostly, but what it does is very impressive though.

Re: Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
I love my DPFI 4 spd!! It was so fast great on gas, I mean, who wouldn't want a car that you have push the pedal all the way to the floor in every gear just to keep up with traffic!?
I'm smacking myself right now for even bothering with this crappy b18!! DPFI 4 spds for life! |

^ lol
The STD is peppy, but it's nothing that will every be worth fixing up. I'm getting a 5-speed Si tranny Monday, and MPFI conversion sometime next week. After that, I'll like my car alot more, even if it's at the expense of a little gas mileage. |

Re: Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
ive got the std and let me tell you....after spending $100 on ebay and getting a little dirty, that thing moves a lot better than people would think. the gas is amazing (even the way i drive) and its actually pleasant to drive in traffic because 1st gear holds out a little longer than most 5 speeds ive driven. only problem i have with mine is it burns oil like nobodys business. ah well. its a good car to learn exactly what makes a difference as far as engine upgrades go. after putting in a cold air intake, then the headers and exhaust and new wiring you definately tell the differences and exactly how much it changes.

Re: Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
Just out of curiosity.... what do you guys shift at normally? Like not revving it up there, but staying with traffic. I normally shift at 2.5k-3k rpms cause the engine really sounds loud after 3k rpms. Almost sounds like I'm hurting it, and with a 15 year old car, I don't want too.

Re: Whose impressed with thier DPFI 4spd?
I let off the clutch and my car gets going to 2.5k-3k rpms immediately and I shift normal driving at 4k rpms. I'd hate to have a stock engine...LMAO!
