non v-tec to v-tec

what's up everyone first time afer but hope to meet alot of tuners, racers, wrench-heads, etc. But, I was at a shop and overheard a convo between the employee and a customer. The cust wanted to get a v-tec engine and the emp said that instead of getting a whole new engine the shop will put some type of software or something to make the non v-tec engine behave like a v-tec engine. Now to my question I thought the tec and non-tec engines had different camshafts the v-tec had more lobes on the shaft so when the v-tec kicks in you can get more out of the engine? I'm not sure if that's right or maybe I heard it wrong. corrections gladly accepted.

Go to Cars In General > Engineering/Technical > How V-TEC Works. Or go to Howstuffworks.com. You will find out very soon that it takes more than just an ECU program to make V-tec work.

Or go to my other hang out in these forums. Honda>92-95 Civic. You will find plenty of answers from all the tuners there. I get plenty of info from all the guys there. They can answer pretty much anything you need to know about your Civic. Late...

Re: non v-tec to v-tec

if you ask the non-vtec to vtec owners, they have a serious problem w/ reliability and something about rather having a 13 sec. honda vtec than a 12 sec. ls/vtec conversion, hit up one of their sites and look around

of course there are tons of how-tos around just google it
