Trunk realease and parking light wiring / dash construction (repost)

I just posted this over in the Mercury Sable forum, but I figure that since these vehichles are basicly identical I would post it here as well for additional exposure. I assume the trunk release and headlamp switches at least are the same.

I'm in the process of installing an aftermarket remote wireless kit in my '99 sable. I know that everyone says that they all came with one, but I tried that "turn it off and on 10 times" thing and nothing happened. In any case I've already hooked up the power wiring and the the door locks from my kit, and they work fine. My problem is now with hooking up the trunk release and the parking light conformation.

I know which wires I'm supposed to splice into but they are really inaccesable. The parking lights are located at the the light switch, and the trunk wire at the trunk release button. Additionaly the trunk release wires are bundled in a clear vinyl sheath. With the kick panel out i can see them but I can't immagine being able to work up there. Technitions must be able to remove these parts somehow or at least remove the front of the dash so they are accessable. Anyone know how to do this? Alternatively does anyone know if these wires run somewhere easier to get at? I thought that the parking lamps must run through the fuse box, but I just thought I would ask.
