leaking cab when it rains

The cab is getting wet on the driver's side of this vehicle ,windows closed,it is brand new the carpet gets saturated . Cannot see it dripping anywhere, anyone had this problem? I'm puzzled.

You said it's a new truck? Take it back to the dealer and have them make it right. Water leaks aren't easy to find. There have been some others mention water leaks since I joined the list. You paid for a truck that isn't supposed to leak, I'm sure they told you how good Toyota service is when you bought the truck, make them prove it. My opinion.

There is Toyota factory service bullition # BO026R-00 for truck years 97-03 on this extact problem. I don't know if it applies to anything after 03 though.

I had my 2003 back to dealership 6 different times for the same problem. They replaced the windshield, the door seals, the passenger mirror, and finally the whole passenger door. The leak is still there. The water is running down between the door and the truck frame and is entering the cab near the floor kick panel. Check it after the next rain (right after the rain) and you will see how it is getting into the cab. This IS NOT a lemon law problem. Lemon law items have to affect the safety or operation of the vehicle. This DOES NOT in any way affect you from safely operating your truck. I'm not saying I agree....I'm just telling what the lemon law is!

Mike; Your experience with leaks is why I suggested to Technician to let the dealer work on the problem. Not under lemon laws, but I still think you should expect Toyota to correct the problem. I had an Isuzu PU that leaked the same way but I never knew it leaked until I stopped parking it in my garage when the truck was about 7 years old. It turned out to be a body panel seam the wasn't sealed and I would guess that is where your problem may be. I think I would bug your state attorney general or whoever handles consumer complaints in your state and ask them to check into the shoddy service you have receiived. As I said in my original post water leaks aren't easy to locate. I first started buying cars around 1950 and leaks were common in most cars except GM. Most manufacturers now build watertight vehicles, but it appears it may be common with the Tacoma. I guess I need to take my truck out of the garage when it rains to make sure it doesn't leak. It's six months old and has been in heavy rain a few times and I've not seen any signs of leaks. FWIW, Clifton

I couldn't agree with you more! Technician should push the issue as far as he can. I failed to mention in my case that the dealsership also had the dashboard completely out and resealed all the body seams in the area. It all boils down to how bad you need your vehicle, and just how far you're willing to push the issue. You know as well as I do that there is that fine line between getting the service department to correct something that is wrong, and pissing them off to the point that they keep your vehicle all day and tell you at the end of that day that "We can't find the problem". The dealership that I dealt with was willing to give me a loaner car while they worked on mine. One of the "Leak" visits they had my truck for over 2 weeks. They told me that they were not obligated to give me vehicle, but they did anyway. It got the point with me that I felt the dealsership honestly did all that they could to fix the problem, and at the end they were just going through the motions.

Is there any way to get the text of these TSBs? I thought they all used to be online but at some point I guess that changed.

I've started noticing the same leak with my truck (97 extracab). I looked all around the footwell and couldn't see anything leaking down into it so I assume it's coming up from the bottom somewhere.

I subscribed to the Alldata site for my 99 Tacoma. The cost is 24.95 for a year subscription for one vehicle and 14.95 for each additional one. You get really good information, including all the TSB's. The factory manuals are still the best though, but this site is pretty good if you plan on keeping the vehicle and doing allot of your own repairs.

I think the TSB for this particular problem has to do with replcement of the cab door seal. You should be able to get a copy of the TSB from any Toyota dealership.
