Extreme gets wheel hop

I have a 2001 Chevy S-10 Extreme 4.3L with a possi-trac rearend. Sometimes when I spin the tires from a dead stop or a power brake my tires will start to hop. Its embarassing when your smoking the tires off and all of the suddon your ass end starts hopping. But sometimes it doesn't happen and I can go ahead and finish filling the block up with smoke. If this has happened to you or if you have a idea please reply.

Re: Extreme gets wheel hop

its because the amount of power your putting to the back wheels and how light the back end is, my s 10 does it my moms ford f150 does it, all the power to no weight, if the tires start to hop there gunna keep hopping, maby put a couple sand bags in it

Re: Extreme gets wheel hop

Actually tire hop is a common problem, and the real way to help eliminate it is get some traction bars made up and installed.

You can never totally get rid of it, but traction bars really do help.

There must be a site on the net that tells you how to build them.

Also, could be a sign of worn shocks.

Re: Extreme gets wheel hop

I will check up on my suspension and find out more about the traction bar but I did a smoke show with the sandbags in the back of my truck though it was a little damp outside it didn't hop. Thanks for everyones input.
