coolant leak

I have a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville. I have already had the engine replaced once and through some research beginning to think it was the coolant leaking due to the plastic intake manifold. Can it be prevented from happening again? Are there any warning signs? I had only had the car a week went it happened before.
