Get some bass for your buck

Sorry this was supposed to be a reply not a thread but if you have any suggestions on what kind of subs that would maybe need less air to sound better than please feel free to inquire. I bought a sealed box from audio inhancer for two 10" subs to custom fit my 2001 S-10 Extreme, I'm pushing two Pheonix Gold XS series subs witch are pretty much bottom line for P.G. with a 300x2 Pheonix Gold tantrum series amplifier. It pounds hard but Like that other guy said you should find a sub that needs less air to pump them and it will sound even better, you will probably never get bass like you would in a hatchback, but it will amaze you how loud it will get if you get the right components, compared to the right box with the wrong subs.

Re: Get some bass for your buck

I've got 10" Thump sub's for my Blazer, although I haven't built a box yet. They only require about a 1 cube foot box.

I think that I only paid 10.00 canadian for them at a discount store.

I have a standard cab. w a custom built box. 2 audiobahn 10s with a 600 watt audiobahn amp. the box is sealed. Im hitting 150db on the winshield. You can do it w/ a small box. In My opinion a smaller box sounds better when its sealed.

My box is pretty small to you can check the specs at www.audioinhancers.com, custom box for a 01 S-10 standard cab I never thought of audiobahn cause every time I've seen one the maginet was huge but thanks for the idea audiobahn's are good speakers I will look into them.

Re: Get some bass for your buck

Yes when I bought my box they had custom boxes both for 10" and 12" subs. the only reason I bought the box for the 10"s is cause I had two 10's already but if I was to do it again I would spend the money and get 12's more like my kind of bass. Go to www.audioinhancers.com I think there is an s at the end of inhancer.....but not sure, but check the specs on the 12" box your Kenwood's will probably fit.

Re: Get some bass for your buck

Ok I see then based on the specs I would a box for two 12s thanx man but one question how much cubic feet does an extended cab s10 have or in other words the space I would have to work with in order to get two 12s to work right??

Re: Get some bass for your buck

My S-10 is a standard cab, but I don't know the cubic ft. in the back of a extended cab but if you have a extended cab you are way better off I would get a bandpass box or a vented box sizes will vary my friend has two 12" MTX 9000's in a MTX vented box in the back of his Ranger extended cab with two 1500 amps given they are some of the best speakers on the market it actually feels like your in the speaker box and when you get out it feels like you had your ear next to a tricked out Camaro's exhaust he is a pretty tall guy and there is still plenty of leg room so if you have an extended cab and want the people in the next county to hear you comin bandpass or vented. But usually people when they put them in their truck or car or whatever want to see the speakers so they face the speakers to where they can see them but thenagain you will here more air than you want to coming out the ports, so sacrifice the looks and put your speakers or ports, facing away from you. good luck and is that your pimp ass Extreme in your photo's........and I can't wait until the new Camaro's come out and walk all over the new "bad ass" Mustang.

Thumbs up Re: Get some bass for your buck

i've heard a pair of audiobahn 10's in a standard cab with each getting 800w and they hit harder than my friends pair of 12's (JL audios) go with the audiobahn definitly. i have 2 12's in my hatchback and i am in heaven

Re: Get some bass for your buck

Sealed boxes usually do require less air space than ported, and they're a much sharper response. Although most people seem to prefer ported boxxes where I live.
