97 Jimmy front suspension

I changed to a smaller backspacing rims and found that the front passenger side tire now sticks out about 1 1/2" farther from the fender than the driver side. Is this normal? All the rims are the same. The frame is not noticably bent. The A frames, etc. on the driver side may have been replaced. Could they have swaped with a different year or model?

Yip, it is normal.

That is why you don't change the back spacing.

I wanted to widen the distance between wheels for stability and it worked. With new rims, I moved all the wheels out about 2" each. That is when I noticed the difference in the front wheels.
Are your front wheels off set too? Is your passenger side closer to the side of the fender than the driver side wheel?

Yes, they are offset like that, prefectly normal.

Also, remember, it is illegal to have the tires outside of the wheel well.

WOW You are the first to say it is normal. Thanks for the info.
1) You are correct
2) not a law that is rigidly upheld down here
3) that is why I added fender flares.

Ah, yes, fender flares will make it perfectly legal.

They also keep the mud out of your arm pit when you make a right hand turn and have your arm hanging out the window.
