how can i gte this device file back without reformatting?
Cannot find a device file that my be needed to run windows or a windows application.
The windows registry os SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device on longer exists. If you deleted this file on pupose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program. If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VSHINI.VXD Press any key to continue_ i press a key, it loads up as normal, and runs fine. i dont think i deleted any file.

Try going to start>>>run>>>then type in system.ini
Then look for that file, and delete it out of there. But it sounds like a Mcafee file. Do you have mcafee on your pc? |

Yes that is a McAfee file. It is like a virus itself. It could also still be in the registry. Do a search in the registry and delete all instances of that EXACT file. If that fails try installing the trial again and then removing through add remove programs.

No, don't even worry about that. Try this: Start Registry Editor (start>>run>>regedit). Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\VxD\Vshinit Back up the Vshinit key, and then delete the entire key. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer Warning: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. |

yeah, better yet, create a copy of your whole registry. I think you go, file>>>then export. Then save it to a disk. |

Save it to your hard drive. Just something so you have a backup copy. If something happens, you boot into safe mode, and import the file again. Its very simple. |

When you open regedit. Click on File, then export. It should go about asking you where to save the file. Select your C:\ drive. |
