your 3000gt also weighs alot more than his grand am does. and yours is a little older so it is bound not to be running at tip top condition.

as for finding a manual transmission, check out your local wrecking yards. if they dont have one for you, im sure they might be able to order one for you, from another yard. also, contact a couple front clip importer companies...they can usually get just transmissions for you too. i dont know if they made a only FWD GTO in japan but if they did then you could also get one shipped from there.

but along with that manual trans. your gonna needs quite a few more parts. an auto to manual swap isnt exactly like changing your air filter.

parts to do a auto - manual conversion includes:

clutch slave cylinder
clutch master cylinder
clutch pedal assembly
brake pedal
shifter assembly
manual transmission
clutch & flywheel (if your trans doesnt include those things)
hosing to plumb the cylinders
clutch lines

not to mention some other wiring issues your gonna aquire...and i probably forgot a couple things. if you already knew this stuff, just ignore it...

ok go here...this is a wrecking yard database type thing. just fill out the form, and then you will have wrecking yards from all over the country email you, offering the parts you need along with the price. i have used it a couple times and i get 5 or 6 emails within 24 hours.

keep checking on ebay, they pop up every couple of weeks...i waited for a few weeks for mine and was well worth the wait.

You shouldn't have lost to a Grand Am GT...unless you were just going short distances.

Check the FAQ, tell's you everything you need to know about the swap.

www.car-part.com

that site is a database for all salvage yard places. i found my suspensions parts from there. had a whole list of places, but called around, found one near me, that had good prices, went with it. you'll get soo many hits if you search for a 3000gt tranny.

Just cuse your car came with 222 hp stock does not mean it is making 222 hp after 11 years. When I bought my car and dynoed it it was at 172 hp, after a head job and tune up and new clutch it made 208, after mods its at 225 so its not always 222, thats just the stock figures we use for comparison to other cars stock figures.

Re: I Lost Again!!!!!!!!!!

Grand AM GT's are low 16 second cars. I have said it once and I'll say it again for the most part ATX 3/s's are mid to high 16 second second cars. I know some others like to disagree, but what are you gonna do?

If you would have raced to a top speed you probably would have taken him though.

Yeah I've heard a couple of tenths slower not 2 seconds but I'm not gonna argue cause I'm not sure.

Hey Musashi, wasn't it expensive to dyno it so many times?

Re: I Lost Again!!!!!!!!!!

Also, its 222 at the flywheel. When you dyno you get the power at the wheels, 172 FWHP is about right.

Re: I Lost Again!!!!!!!!!!

What % range are the losses from the different drive types? I wana know how much 500 flyhp is and how much 500 front wheel hp is.

i dont know about FWD, but RWD you lose about 20% from the flywheel to the wheels and AWD you lose about 25% in most cars. my guess would be that FWD also loses about 20%...but that would be a guess.
