Re: silverado fog lights

I've heard a lot of people asking about this but, I don't think they make yellow bulbs for the stock fog lamps. Better off to go after market for something like that.

I'm actually contemplating pulling my OEM Driving lights out and putting some other ones in that will fit in the same place.

Hey Chuck -
I am thinking of doing the same thing. Do you think we can simply use the factory wiring with a new aftermarket light?

same here. Should be able to, just as long as you get polarity right. You almost can't tell when they are on.

Re: silverado fog lights

I'm curious at all the comments about Silverado Fog Lights. Comments like you can't even tell they are on???? I don't know what years we are talking about - but the fog lights that came with my 2004 Silverado are spectacular - best I've ever had. In fact - this being heavy heavy deer country - I've had no surprises since getting my truck with these lights on.

I've even driven without the regular headlights or running lights - and only the fog lights during exceptional requirements. My fog lights provide more light than my normal low beam headlight in almost all cases from what I can judge.

Is there some difference in my years' lights compared to what you folks are describing?

Re: silverado fog lights

They changed the lights in 2003 I believe. The lights on the newer models are much more effective. The ones on the 99'-01' act more like courtesy lights than actual functional lights...

Re: silverado fog lights

The reason is they´re pointing to the moon and there is not enough length in the adjuster screw to compensate, I´d like to meet the genious that designed them.

When I replace mine (which will happen as time permits) you can have my factory units for free. I let you know.

I'm like most. I had to yank my factory lamps out of my 2000. They were not even 20% of the brightness from the factory low beams. I replaced mine with HID's. Not very cost friendly, but what a difference.

Re: silverado fog lights

You should just be able to cut the plastic where the stock ones would go and you will see two bolt holes in the bumper just above. All you'd have to do then is a make a bracket that would reach the bumper for your new lights. I miss my Bosch Driving lights I had, I would have put them on this truck but, they'd look silly in these slots. Haven't found a good factory replacement yet.
