Re: Looks like the R34's are going out with a bang!!!

It's a reconditioned used car. www.nismo.co.jp/z-tune/

Why bother? For 160 k if all you are getting is a 500 ps GTR with a body kit you could do better. For thatI can buy 2 used 34's and easily put them at a competitive level and still have money for gas.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Well limited editions are usually meant as collector’s cars and are never a good deal. They are made for rich people so they can brag they have one.

I'm sure you can get the same results for far cheaper if you do the modifications yourself.

I just though it would've been interesting if the last models to leave the production line would've had those specs. But if they are just some old used and reconditioned models I guess they are not that special.

Looks really good. But, I rather mod it myself for cheaper. Still though, it would own to have one!

Re: Looks like the R34's are going out with a bang!!!

Well if we're going to look at it that way, you can make an 11 second Camaro for under $2,500...

Its a collectors car like Neutrino said... Similar to Nür or the rest of NISMOs fleet. Its not meant to be the fastest, or be the best looking... Its meant to be a rare version, of a not so rare car.

If I was up to my eyeballs in money, I wold deffinately buy one... These will be more than likely the last 20 BNR34's to come out of NISMO, or Nissan ever... So why not if you have the dough?

... Just my opinion.

The point is, they are used cars. You can do the same thing to a used car for far less. It is just nissan milking some more money from the skyline moniker until they debut the new car. The car will have to still be registered as a 2000 or 2001 model. For 80k USD, there was a m spec with 9km on it. For me this is a much better value as it was the last of the lot to roll from the assembly line.

You wouldn't spend 160k on a used 240z if nissan pulled it in and refubished it would you? The fact is, NISMO is just trying to keep interest in the skyline until they can get the new one out.

Nismo has made these because they are having their 20th anniversary, and to celebrate they are making 20 (what a coincidence!) of the best tuned cars that they can. Which, when it comes down to Nissan performance, that's the car they are going to use. Granted, they could have done it to the 350Z, but that's not their flagship performance vehicle, it's just their stand in until the GTR returns.

Yes the car is a used model:

All of the work, from engine production to vehicle assembly, is performed by expert mechanics using the same handmade craftsmanship to race cars to achieve a level of accuracy and specifications that is unachievable in mass-produced vehicles.
But, you'd be buying basically a nismo production street legal race car.

As far as saying you can do the same this to a used car for less, well, do it and prove Nismo wrong. Granted, IF you could get you're hands on those parts, you may be able to. But you can't, the fact is many of those parts are not available. If they are, and you start pricing them, you'll find out why the huge price tag. The engine is a GT racing Z2 spec, where do you plan on finding one? And then the ECU?

If you don't think it's worth the money, that's fine, I don't either... mainly because I can't afford it. But the fact is, these are showcases of NISMO's and the Skyline's racing heritage and development. This is a perfect way for NISMO to celebrate it's 20th anniversary and give the R34 Skyline GTR the going away it deserved.

Re: Looks like the R34's are going out with a bang!!!

I agree with borth Matada and GTES-t... And honestly, if NISMO released a 240Zed completely tuned up, completely restored, with limited units created... Im not going to lie, if I had the extra money, I probably would.

The only reason that I would buy the Z-Tune NISMO R34 is because of its historical significance... But once again, they're probably going to release another few tuned up Skylines between now and 2007... So Im not sure.

Its not as if I can afford one anyways, so why worry about it

well it definately is an amazing tuned r34, is it reall worth the price tag? definately not, but for a collector's car, it surely is a fine pick and if money was no problem then it would definately be sitting in my garage

Re: Looks like the R34's are going out with a bang!!!

It's amazing to me just how much more expensive the NISMO tag makes stuff here in Japan.

I'll give you an example. At any Autobacs, you can buy radiator caps. Simple enough right? They all do the same thing. Give you a convenient place to add water to your cooling system while sealing it well enough to keep it from leaking under pressure.

Most of the time you can buy them for less than 1000 Yen (around ten bucks). Now take that same $10 Cap, and put a NISMO tag on the top. That cap is now an $85 dollar item. And no, that's not an exaggeration.

So that leaves us to the point of my little story here folks. Is it really WORTH it to spend $85 on a $10 item only because it says NISMO on it? I don't think so. But there are plenty of self-pretentious buttholes with too much money in their wallet that will swear up and down that not only is it worth it, but that radiator cap is BETTER than yours.

And if any of you in the states think for one second that you can't build a much better R34 for $160k than the NISMO Z-tune here in Japan, you are kidding yourselves.

Well like I said... Its the historical factor here, there is no doubt that you can build a much better car for $160, but it doesnt say NISMO on it, now does it?

... Just kidding by the way.

yes you can obtain that performanc efor half the price, but the skyline that you would the money towards will never keep its value like this mint 1 of 20 made version.

Thank you very much professor obvious!

The collector car point has already been made.

Big deal. It's $200,000 for a used NISSAN!! If I was a self-indulgent butthole with that much money to waste on a car, it would have a Ferrari, or Lamborghini logo on it.

Here's why, because no matter how fast you make that GTR, at the end of the day, I'm the one driving the Lambo, and you're the guy in a Nissan. When that much money is being spent on a car, it's all about the "Hand-Job from Random Chick Factor".

Re: Looks like the R34's are going out with a bang!!!

It doesn't matter who makes them! A limited run will always be expensive as hell for the exclusivity of it. Just look at the Nismo 400R. A car around a decade old and one was recently sold in the UK for £70,000.

Plus the know that the limited run will easily be sold, because there are plenty of people out there with money to burn. $200,000 for a car for them would be nothing, and they get a collectors item for it.
