Overheating
My car while in a drive is perfectly fine. but as soon as i come to a stop sometimes it tends to want to overheat just a little bit but doesn't go all the way over to the hot side. It stays about half way well just a little under half way all the time and it stays there but then when u come to a stop it tends to heat up just a little bit. what do you all think is the problem? and thanks greatly on the other problem come to find out it was the main relay and when i changed it it ran perfectly and still hasn't stoppped thanks alot.

Re: Overheating
sounds normal. all cars heat up a lil bit when stopped because there is no moving air going through the radiatior to facilitate cooling. If it really climbs up in temperature, then u may have a problem, but a slight movement on the temp gauge is normal

Re: Overheating
i view a temp gauge thats near half as pretty high as i have never been able to get mine up that far, and ive never noticed a change in temp when stopped. so idk the symptoms may seem a bit more extreme to me...

I think it could be the fan or the fan relays or something like that

Re: Overheating
are the fans coming on after the car has been sitting or when it starts to heat up a little? because as the the temp gauge goes up the fans should eventually come on to help cool the engine down.

Re: Overheating
thanks for your opinion Bilson. FYI my temp gauge sits slightly to the left of midway, and can sometimes climb slightly to practically exactly half way if sitting at a stop light. the radiator uses flowing air to help it cool down the water, thus the need for fans. The fans only turn on when there is an increase in temperature, they are not always on. now, feel free to explain how there is no increase in temperature when sitting at a stoplight for a duration of time (especially since this is normally when the fans turn on)....
