buying headers w/ down pipe??

I have a 98 civic coupe EX
i am finally going to be able to get headers, i know that i want the
DC sport 4-2-1 ceranic. but it seem that the ones on this link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting
in
come with a down pipe.
Is that what it is or do i not know what i am talking about.
if so do all of the DC sport headres come with the down pipe.
that seems to be a good price.

Re: buying headers w/ down pipe??

It's just a 2 piece header. The 2 piece headers come just like that (2 pieces). And then there are the 1 piece headers where there is no place to take it apart, it's just solid welded tubes that wraps under the motor and to the cat.. Don't think there would be any performance differences between the 2 though. I've heard that part refered to as a downpipe before, I don't know if that's the correct name for it or not. When I hear downpipe, I think of the downpipe on a turbo kit.

Re: buying headers w/ down pipe??

I knew that the headers are TWO pieces, but i didn't think the end extended that far compared to other one piece headers.
from what little i know the "Down Pipe" is between the end of the header and the start at the cat.
or there is a posibility i am just stupid.
i dont know compare the last pic with this one

Re: buying headers w/ down pipe??

that header is longer than normal. looks like a test pipe, not a "down pipe." that header would more than likely replace your cat. at least thats what it looks like

Re: buying headers w/ down pipe??

Lools like they just added a pipe at the end of it. The header ends right at the start of the flex pipe. Look here: http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-3637.cfm

Also, has anyone else heard this news?

Re: buying headers w/ down pipe??

i emailed the guy just now, hopfully he will reply soon.
i knew the headers weren't that long. by the looks of it it seems it would replace the cat.

I hope DC getting sold to AEM is a good thing

If you have a manual transmission, get the DC Header 4-1. Increased flow just a little more money. I know this one mounts up because I just put one on my car last year. Best header I ever bought. You can find them here. http://www.morepowerracing.com/produ...or=&PT_ID=3584 Not sure how there pricing is, so you might want to search around.

Be aware though, any header you put on that is not stock will require you to relocate your o2 sensor. Hondawas nice enough to build the sensor into the header for us in '98, thanks Honda. I paid $375 for my header, and another $250 to have in mounted up and have my o2 moved. If you find a good shop they can have it done for your in a couple of hours, so your not without your car for days.

Good Luck.

ok... so listen... whatever header you get... your gonna have to take your cat off to install it, becaue its alot bigger than what your stock ex comes with... ohio doesnt have emission laws... they dont even have inspection...lol.. atleast not in the parts that i have been in but anyways... youll have to have a cat put in somewhere after the new header, and you should get a car anyways... to free up the air... because using a regular cat with a header is going to make the header pointless... the stock cat is still restricting airflow

You'll have a hard time buying 'headers' on a four banger...
