Custom Skyline

This is my custom Skyline. It is an XMOD car. Yes, I know, I know, its an XMODS...so dont go flaming me. I am just posting pics here of the body work i did to it. I would like to hear your comments.

This is a pic of how the car looks without the hood:

This is a picture of the tail lights that I shaved. The red is the Bondo:

Here is a pic of the front bumper:

And here is the back bumper:

The door handles were also shaved. Here is a pic of the left side:

And the right:

I also shaved the side marker lights:

I had to modify the original spoiler for it to sit better on the trunk. Here is one pic:

And another pic:

I'm planning on painting it a couple colors...I have dark blue and aqua. The body will be the dark blue while the accents and a design that i have yet to come up with will be the aqua.

Good Ideas, but that bondo spot putty will last about as long as a retard in a spelling bee.

Re: Custom Skyline

well Im sorry people around here dont know shit about this, because I was told to use this for the body work. And who said I was goin to drive it where I could hit something? Its also nice to know that people are looking at the materials used rather than the work done.

Re: Custom Skyline

Who said anything about where you drive it effecting the bondo spot putty? Over time it will get dry, brittle and crack messing up any paint laid over it. It is designed for small pin holes in Bondo body filler after you apply it, sand it and it dries. If used for anything larger than small spots it usually cracks.
I have a few models with small dimples and cracks where i used it to shave handles and fill in areas like you did on the front bumpers.

They were just trying to warn you.

Re: Custom Skyline

see...I did not know that. For now, I'll just leave it how it is, then when it starts to go i'll fix it. I'm sorry about gettin upset. Thanks for the info. I might do something along the lines of this to something else, but obviously I will use some other type of filler for the body work. What do you guys propose I try to find and use?

Re: Custom Skyline

I suggest using Tamiya's Epoxy Putty. And your previous post was uncalled for. Every person that has posted in this thread is a modeler, and knows what they are talking about. But I am glad you apologized.

Re: Custom Skyline

I know my previous post was uncalled for...I'm honestly sorry about over reacting. I was just tired and already in a somewhat bad mood...Im not normally that snappy...and I do also have a real RC car, but its old so I dont know how much of a real car it is...its the Losi JX2 I think? Its just this one is fun to watch slidin around on the floor lol

About the putty...do you think I should just go to a hobby shop and see what kinds of putty they have? Is there something special I should look for besides the Tamiya putty?

Re: Custom Skyline

Just make sure its a two part putty.

Losi's cars are great, excellent cars. Nothing wrong with them. A lot of my cars are older than me.
