clank sound in reverse

whenever i'm goin in reverse theres a clank sound comin from the front left, i was told it might be bushings in the sway bar stiffening from the cold. could that be it?

Re: clank sound in reverse

Check your engine and tranny mounts - dont be surprised if one of them is bad....I've never heard of sway bar bushings creating a clunking noise when putting it in reverse, I dont even know how it could cause such a thing...
Without even looking at any tranny mounts or engine mounts, you can figure out if that's the problem by simply having someone put the car in reverse while youre looking at the engine for any movement - if there is movement when it's put in reverse, then you know it's a mount...

Does this happen when you first start the car in the morning (backing up out of the driveway)? If so, your calipers are just cold and need time to warm up. My car has been doing that ever since the temperatures have dropped.

When did we get all these little kids running rampant through the forum?

If not the brakes...then I am not really sure. My knowledge is pretty limited. Sorry. Did you try what carboy suggested?
