Decline of Gas Mileage

I have noticed a drastic reduction of my gas mileage since the service engine soon light started poping on and off for E44 code-Oxygen Sensor Signal Lean code will be set when; 1. There is an oxygen sensor circuit fault giving a false lean indication or 2. When the air fuel ratio is actually lean due to a vacuum leak or fuel control system fault, is this the reason that my milage went from a average of 21.3 miles now down to 15.2 and seems to be dropping if anyone knows if this is what it is please let me know. Re: Decline of Gas Mileage

Hi Kraig,

Have you had any further problems with fuel mileage dropping? I've had the same thing twice now, put the car in the shop the first time and it was the fuel pressure regulator and a fuel injector. Now I'm having the rest of the injectors replaced. My mileage went from 21-22 down to 16 or so. I have a 95 Eldorado Touring Coupe.

Re: Decline of Gas Mileage

Hello There Pleptuch,
Aftere a week the light went off and has not came back on since, I have noticed in the few years that I have had the car that the gas milage goes way down in the winter and back up in the warmer months. Interesting problem I would definatly look at the injectors. Let me know how it comes out bud. Kraig
