Need HELP from old school hot rodders

I am trying to complete my first rebuild and upgrade. My car is a 75 Firebird. I put in a 400 and now I am stuck!!

The car had exhaust manifolds and I want to run headers. The problem is that the left header hits the TH350 transmission linkage and does not allow it to shift down past neutral.

Issue #2. I am using a stock intake from about a 68-69 400 and I need to find the throttle cable bracket to fit to this intake and to a Holley 750
4bbl. The casting numbers on the intake beside the water outlet are A192 if this helps.

If you know solutions to either of these issues, please help!!

What brand header did you use or were they custom made?

They are dynomax headers, which according to their tech support are the same specs as hedman.

Well, if the TH350 tranny is stock, and you really want to keep the headers, you may have to fabricate your own shift linkage. It isn't that bad of a job if you have the patience for it...its a lot of trial and error. I have a '79 T/A with the 2 speed powerglide tranny and it came with a 3 speed stock, so I had to fab up my own shift linkage. The only other solution may be to call the place you got the headers from and tell them your set-up and tranny and see if they have a linkage that will work in that situation. Classic Industries is one of the companies I use occasionally for awkward parts like that. Good luck.

you could try fabricating both pertty easyly from just bulk pices of metal or get a hammer put a dent in the header

It's not a good idea to bend the header tubes however...

If I were to bend the tube, it would have to be bent shut. I need 2" of clearance.
