Does High Octane Fuel really make difference???

I have an '02 Tundra with V8 iForce and 45k miles. Also have Flowmaster installed and K&N filter. It moves mighty quick - when the wife isn't in the cab.

I have been using regular ( only use Shell though ) unleaded but have heard that 91 octane is much better and makes a huge difference.

what is the general consensus on the Board??

i noticed no difference with 87. Never tried 91

When my truck sat outside i would full up with the 89 octane when it dropped below freezing and it seemed to idle smoother after startup. The rest of the 11.5 months i ran 87. Now im in a garage so i run 87 year-round.

I only fill up with Chevron.

Try some and find out.

unless you're running high compression, a turbo or blower, or a superchip that gets radical with the timing you dont' need it and it wont make any difference. All 91 fuel contains is more octane to prevent detonation from early timing or high compression.

Oh, and as far as fuels go, I used to work at a fuel station and the shipments came from various refineries as rfeferenced on the shipping documentation, more often than not the competitions, and not our own. So, gas is gas

That's very interesting. Would a gas station let me see this documentation just for fun? I'm guessing no...
