Cleaning a Turbo
Is it possible to clean a used turbo? If so, how would one go about cleaning it? Are there certain chemicals that can be used and what way are they to be used? Would i have to oil the turbo after cleaning it? Is there a certain type of oil that a turbo takes, and what kind? Im talking of the compressor, not the exhaust side. The exhaust side is detached. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks much

Re: Cleaning a Turbo
on the last turbo that i cleaned (greatly used), i took of the comp side, then turbine side, the middle section got taken apart to where it was just the center housing. Then i took the compressor side, turbine side, back plates, and took them into the glass beader. I like using this much more than a sandblaster, and after the glassbeading, i put them into a high pressure, high temp water cleaner. I also bought a used center section off of ebay, put it all back togethor, painted it (for looks) then auctioned it off. If you dont have these things available to you (glassbeader, water cleaner) then i dont really have a very good suggestion to you. Good luck!

Re: Cleaning a Turbo
Make sure the entire blade is cleaned thourougly. If not, the wheel will be off balance.

Re: Cleaning a Turbo
yea i forget to mention the actual blades, i love glassbeading though. If you cant do it your self, see if someone you know can..My RHG6 was crap, covered in rust and looked extremely bad, glassbeading and high pressure water and it looked brand new..

Re: Cleaning a Turbo
can glass beading be put in a sandblaster, or does it have to have its own container. I dont want to sandblast, it makes more work because it leaves a rough surface.
