Unhappy Blower Motor problems

Hi!
I just took my car in for repairs and they said that the blower motor needs replacing because the blower fan is broken. I guess I'm just wondering if the fan could be replaced without having to replace the whole motor. Plus they are charging about $230 CAD for the parts. Does this seem right? Thanks

Rachelle

Re: Blower Motor problems

$230 seems pretty high for parts. You can buy the blower motor for $100 US (I think around $125 CAD) from an auto parts store. Did the $230 just include parts, or is that labor included? If labor is included in the $230, then that's probably right in the ballpark of what to expect from a repair shop. Still more than I would want to pay to put a blower motor in though.

Re: Re: Blower Motor problems

The fan is held on the motor shaft by one screw. Loosen teh screw and the fan should come off.
