1984 Diesel

I have a 1984 Continental with the 2.4L inline 6-cyl turbo diesel and 77,000 miles. My air suspension has failed, but I plan on converting to coil springs for reliability reasons. Here's the problem: I want to do some repairs/maintenance on various systems in the car (esp. under the hood). I have the original owner's manual with the supplement for the diesel engine, but I can't find any repair manuals anywhere. Not at any parts stores, not online, nowhere. Please help! Any good links, esp. with repair manual material, will be greatly appreciated.

Re: 1984 Diesel

A buddy of mine had a coil spring version of this car and was fine.
All the rubber air springs themselves eventually rupture and fatigue, This is most often the source of trouble. Usually they last a bit longer than yours.
If the car is good, consider repairing the air system itself, not just replacing it. It is usually a very reliable, effective and unique system.
As for the engine, its made by BMW. My Chiltons 1987 Auto repair manual (the type that covers all domestic cars in one huge book) covers the diesel engine.
So does the Chiltons manual for the 82-87 Continental. If you cannot find these manuals in print or on line, try a used book store/swap meet/flea market.
Good luck.
