Tamiya 1/24 Evo 6 WRC queries?

Ive just recieved my Tamiya 1/24 evo 6 wrc kit and i am very happy with it as i only paid £7.50 for it and it is all brand new and sealed. But ive noticed there is a second set of parts such as brakes and wheels but theres is no mention on how to fit these in the instruction manual. Also the tyres only fit the solid wheels and not the bigger 5 spokes. Is this right? Ive got tyres for them that fit but just thought i would ask the experts. Ill post pics when my camera is charged. Thanks in advance.

Re: Tamiya 1/24 Evo 6 WRC queries?

I have the same kit, and here is the deal with the extra parts (Near as I can tell). The chassis, body, and 'extra' suspension and wheels are from the tarmac-spec Evo V kit. Tamiya added gravel wheels, tires, and suspension, and Evo VI body parts to the package to make it the newer version of the car.

Notice you have to snip off two tabs on the front of the chassis? Those are mounts for the old Evo V body/fascia.

If you can get a set of tires (The tires from the Evo V, or any of the Peugeot or Ford tarmac kits will work), you can make a tarmac version of the Evo VI with those included parts. Maybe buy the Evo V and use those tires, and make the V a gravel car with the VI suspension parts.

The extra wheels and suspension components are indeed from the Evo.V kit, Tamiya took the opportunity and made the VI straight from the V since most of the car was the same.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Think i will make it into the tarmac spec as it looks better.

Don't forget it's the new zealand version of that car, so if you want to make it with a tarmac setup and still aim for accuracy, you'll have to find decals for a rally that's on tarmac.

And you may want to check a lot of reference material, as the paint schemes varied slightly on different rallies.
