Hey guys and gals! Just some research that I am starting to pull together.
From what I have researched, there will be no X7. Instead they are revising the X5 to "furthing distinguish it from the X3." According to the article, the 4.4L engine will no longer be offered in the X5. I think they did this because the 4.8is and the 4.4 are relatively close in power, acceleration, and handling. Instead of the 4.4, they will offer the current (newly revised) 3.0, the 4.8is, and a "new" 4.0 engine. I personally think it is a revised and updated version of the old 4.0L engine found in the 740iL. Here is the article I found: 2006 X5 Spied! I can't really tell the size of the vehicle, but to me (especially from the side) it looks VERY much like the X3. I would assume that the one in the pictures is a 3.0 because of the wheels/tires, and simply the way it looks, as the current 4.8is has the HUGE rims on it. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not sure if I really like the new one. Maybe [hopefully] a "finished" one will look much better. What do you guy's think? Should I go out and buy a current 2005 4.8is and keep it in storage until my current 4.4 dies?

It looks like a pos X3. Why change something when it looks fine as it is.

New X5
I hate it! The current X5 looks great. The X3 looks like an old squashed high top tennis shoe. And now, they want to take the X3 look and force it onto the X5. Wrong move. Also, what numbskull wants an X5 with a 3rd row seat and seating for 7? The upside is that this will keep the resale value for the current model very high.

here is a better pic of the 2007 X5...it's a toss up for me. I'm looking to get a new X5, but if the '07 looks like this, I just might buy a used one and wait for this one to come out. At the same time, there might be bugs that need to be worked out with the '07 X5, as was the case when BMW first started selling the 2000 model. Does anyone have any thoughts on this and can help me make a decision? Thanks.
