I've been thinking about getting the DET but I talked to someone and they asked me why I don't just get the JWT turbo kit which is cheaper... which is better? which has the most hp gain? and which is more reliable/safer? I don't want to put something in, completely void my warrenty and get screwed because my car won't run... thanks!! sorry about all these questions about the DET or JWT turbo... I want to make a smart and informed decision.. thanks again...

as far as i know, unless luke can tell u any different, a det engine is cheaper than the JWT turbo. the engine is about 1700 and the turbo is around 3500. plus the displacement on the det engine is bigger too i believe. when i buy my new g20 im goin for the engive over the turbo.

The displacement of the DET is exactly the same as the DE. Geo |

yeh, its' all SR20 motors meaning it's all 2.0 so same displacement.
I would recommend getting the DET motor cuz it has more potential to extract more power out of it since it's got better compression ratio and pistons that will allow more power later on. the total amount of money wise..pretty much the same, the JWT lists at $3500 and install probably another 1k-$1500? and that's not intercooled i believe but does come with a programmed ecu...for the DET, the total job without ECU but fmic, same price...pretty much depends on where you go...i read it on the post some where that there is a place in SD that's doing the det swap, everything with lots of jwt parts for $2800??? that sounds waaaay to good to be true....my thing is, in life, u get what you pay for...but that's just my opinion...i truly believe that to get it done and tuned the right way..it'll be around $4k-$5k and save for another $1k or so just incase

Right now I have a turbo'd sr20de in my 99 g20t. besides the cost of the turbo, intercooler, ect. there is also alot of other things that add up fast,to do it right . with out going into detail I'm into it alot of $$$$$$$$.In hind sight I sould have bought a DET. the DET has piston cooling oil jets as well as a higher compasity oil pump for a oil cooler. I can do all of that to mine but its alot work and money. But as far as I know the bottom end is the same on the DE as is in the DET, just lower copression pistons. ANY way there's my 2 cents. My engine runs and performs well. I've driven hondas that have been turbo'd and they did'nt come near the power or smothness that my engine has. At 4 p.s.i I have 180 hp and 165 ft\lbs at the wheels. The tourqe curve on the dyno sheet looks like a platue, so the driveability is very good, no sudden power surges, just hard smooth acceleration.Besides the blow off valve , you would think it was a big v6 not a turbo'd four.:bandit:
