finished my first model

well, i just finished my first model ever. a nice sense of accomplishment, though it didnt actually turn out to great.

i know the picture sucks, im using a three year old webcam in a poorly lit room, but its all i got, and the model doesnt look to good anyway. i really just wanted to let you guys know i actually finished it.

i was concerned with a few things. first, the model didnt seem to fit together very well. some hoses were too long, the exhaust pipes were crooked, the windows were either too big or too small, the tires were too loose, and i actually had to crop some of the pulley assemply for the supercharger to get the hood to fit etc etc etc. is this common in revell (or all) kits?

two, i know it takes practice, but the paint sucks. i managed to get it all shiny and stuff, but the color is really uneven (not that you can tell).

i am, however, particularly proud of a few things.

1: its done
2: i managed to do an 8 ball shift knob.
3: engine bay doesnt look too bad, considering i decided to assemble it in full, before painting.

alright, i wont waste anymore of your time, just wanted to guys to know it was actually done.

Congratulations for finishing it. Practice will help get better results.
It doesn't look bad, but if you insist maybe it's just the blurred picture.

Re: finished my first model

Not bad for first model, and yes it common for Revell/AMT to have poor fit

Re: finished my first model

Congratulations on getting it done. Sounds like a bit of a problem kit, as a first effort you did well with it.

Re: finished my first model

congratulations and welcome to the hobby. a lot of us here have been building for several years so dont let that intimidate you. I have yet to have that much of a problem with a revell kit. since all i have ever built have been from revell monogram amt and ertl, i am very pleased with revell's quality. I have yet to, but plan to sometime this year, purchase and build my first tamiya kit. anywho. keep up the good work, and can't wait to see the next one

Re: finished my first model

Well, Like everyone else said, congrats on your first build! Welcome to the hobby blah blah blah. My first model was a Lamborgini Diablo Snap tite with actual stickers as decals. I did it all by myself (And my god, can you tell. lol) It was molded in a blue so I left it like that. I later painted some random lines on it. I don't know why. But I recently completed a 3-color SVT Mustang with a pefect paint level. All it takes is practice. Don't get discouraged. If I would've, I wouldn't have known how much fun this hobby really is. Even though it puts a HUGE dent in your pocket. Or atleast it has in mine.

Modelling rule #1: Never complain about a finished model. its done and youve learned a few things and the next will be even better. Congrats on your first model, we hope to see many more!

The model looks good for it being your first.

And about the Revell kits. I'm working on a Revell 99 Mustang Cobra, and the body won't fit right on the completed chassis/interior.
