how to wire 2004 tail lights to 2001?

I have a 330i 2001 with tail lights like this:



and i want to put the new model tail lights like this ones:


when i ordered the change on the dealer, they told me that can't be done because they have to reprogram the lights module computer for the new lights to function, and they tried with no success to make the new reprogramation, because the year of my car or something like that.

Someone knows how to wire or change the order of wires directly on the tail lights to function properly? i asked for this to the dealer but they said to me they couldn't do that because the light module could fry... it seems to me a little exagerated.
