Angry Quadra-Trac disengaging

My 93 Grand Cherokee Larado automatic with Quadra-Trac goes in and out of 4 wheel drive as it pleases, icy or dry pavement. The two front tire lights on the picture of my jeep above my shifter go on and off as well when this happens. And yes the bulbs are good, I drive on icy roads and can tell when the 4 wheel drive is not working. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

First thing is to check the fluid level in the transfercase and that all the tires are the same size and same air pressure. Could be the VC acting up do you have any trouble turning on dry pavement like a parking spot. If it does the VC- Viscous Coupler might be going in your Transfer Case. Fluid level is critical for this to work.

Re: Quadra-Trac disengaging

well I'm kinda lost, because from my understanding the only lights that go on and off are all of them on the QUADRA-TRAC - either you have 4WD HIGH, or LOW or all of them go out when in NEUTRAL, I am lost because I do not know how it would only illuminate the rear two, because there is no sensor just for the front axle and the rear axle - to my knowledge. now if there were separate sensors for the front and the rear axles I could c if the VC was leaking then it would not apply pressure to the front axle causing the 2WD mode. I would assume it to be the Vehicle Information Center (VIC), it could be bad, but you say you can feel the difference when you loose 4WD.

Are you sure it's only the front 2 Wheels on the VIC that are going out and not all of the wheel (front and Rear)?
