Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, my friend has a volvo ,Its a 1979 ,not sure what model but I know it starts with a B and he says they only made so many.Anyways he had the worst luck the other day.His brakes went out, since that happened his engine hesitates and on top of that he cant open his hood cuz the cable broke.

Heres a few questions:

-How can we open the hood?
-Why do his brakes feel stiff and dont brake?
-Is his engine hesitation related to the bad brakes and if not why does his engine feel weak when we turn it on?

thanks,Rich

The hard part will be opening the hood, but by accessing it from under the bumper you should be able to activate the latch.

The brake problem simply sounds like the vacuum line to the brake booster has fallen off, once you get the hood open it is the large rubber hose running to the brake booster. If this line is connected then the rubber diaphram in the booster has probably ruptured, if this is the case you will need to replace the booster
