Angry 96 Blazer Blowing Fuses

96 Blazer blowing fuses: Started out I had no tail lights, checked fuse and it was blown. Put a spare in and it worked just about 'till I got out of Wal-Mart parking lot, put in another and it blew before I got home. The next day I replaced the fuse and it worked good for a few days then I realized I had no brake lights (long horn blast from nice fellow behind me as I slowed down was my first clue). I also noticed my turn indicator was hanging up (light in dash would remain solid as I made a turn). I have also noticed my dash lights will sometimes get brighter when I push the brake pedal and the signals will work fine with the lights off. Now my tail light and brake light fuses each blow as soon as I replace them and either press the brake pedal or turn on the lights and even more recent my turn signal fuse is blown too. I am running out of fuses. I'm stumped, ideas anyone??

look underneath the vehicle back towards the rear bumper, and see if you have a towing harness or part of a towing harness. its sometimes stuffed in the frame rail.

i had a problem one time with my 95 S-10 that from what i can remember was the same problem. the towing harness had rubbed on the frame rail, and when i touched the brakes, it would blow the fuse.

Re: 96 Blazer Blowing Fuses

Also, you could have a short in your wiring going to the brake switch near the brake pedal.

Re: 96 Blazer Blowing Fuses

Yup, at one time it had a hitch on it and the harness was just snipped off and now corroded. I took it back to good wire, individualy taped each wire then taped them all together and stuffed it out of the way. Everything is OK now.

Thanks for the excellent advice...
