Car Temp
Hey fellas, got a question.
I live in phoenix and i notice that my car doesn't really get up to normal temp (195) latley. It's been around 165 and i was wondering what you guys think, maybe the thermastat is stuck open, but I changed it in the begening of the summer, and I also notice that my heater either takes forever to warm up and when it does it's nothing like it used to be. thanks fellas |

Re: Car Temp
Check out your heater core. You can run a garden hose to it to make sure it is not plugged.

Re: Car Temp
Your thermostat is stuck open. Even it is new. Some of the aftermarket ones are not real good.

Re: Car Temp
I agree with public, some of the aftermarket thermostats are garbage. I have had good results with Stant thermostats.

I don't think my thermostat is stuck open. I did touch all the hoses when idling: the upper hose (outlet?) is always hot; the lower hose (return?) is cold and sometimes warm; the smaller hose (heater? next to thermostat and goes to the back) is always hot too. The thermostat sit at the top end of lower hose & heater hose and 1 is hot & the other is cold, this indicates that the thermostat is closed. I can idle the car as long as I can, the needle never move pass the center. The fan is never on after I put in the autozone fail-safe 180 thermostat. I may had 70% coolant/water mix (after I poured the whole bottle of coolant in and it took only another 2 qts of distilled water)... Very strange on my Cav as my other GrandPrix or Equinox the temp always stay at the same spot regardless of outside temperature or driving speed. I am less concerned with the low temp as my car's temp was on the high side before I did the works. |

Re: Car Temp
If your heater hose is hot BUT you have no heat your heater core is blocked or the baffle in the dash is stuck. Your termostat may be stuck partially open. This plus the bypass hose can be enough to over cool.
