wont go into gear in

sometimes when shiftin it wont go into gear, an yes i do hav the clutch floored when this happens. i hav to take it out an leave it in neutral for a few seconds. happens in 1st and 3rd. i'll rev it an let out the clutch near the friction point an nothin it happens. anyone know why it would do this? my synchro in 5th is goin out too, dont know if that would make any diffrence

Re: wont go into gear in

I am having the same problem in first. Sometimes I just have to jam it in or wait a little while and screw around with it and it slides in. But it's not really a problem for me because it's only with first and I usually have time to get it in gear.

Re: wont go into gear in

sounds like the clutch is going out. but i would check the the hydraulics just to rule it out. bleeding the hydraulics is just like bleeding the brakes. the bleed screw is located on the slave cylinder which is on the backside of the tranny (standing under car, looking forward of car). also check the gearshift and selector cable. make sure they're tight and not kinked anywhere, which rarely happens. adjustment to both cable can be done from the console by the shift lever. be careful, there are certain clearance you have to adjust them to so check with repair manuals for the specific clearance. the most obvious thing to do is to check, add, change your tranny fluid. trannies are pretty sensative as far as repair goes so atleast have it checked out by a professional tranny shop.

Re: wont go into gear in

i was told it might be the release or throw out bearing instead. anyone know how much it would cost to replace it?

It might be your pressure plate. My lude was doing the same thing. I went ahead and bought the whole clutch kit. it ran me 167$.
