95 galant transmission trouble

Hi

trouble with 95 galant 4sp automatic. car drives fine once in motion. problems occur when brakes are applied. transmission does not disengage from engine allowing engine to idle at stop lite

any suggestions as to cause would be appreciated

buy a car with a proper gearbox instead of an auto

my thoughts also. seems like the torque convertor lock up is not releasing. bad signal from computer? internal valve in transmission stuck? Trying to determine which control wires connected to the transmission would control. tranny already out of vehicle
