Yay new CDs!

Sorry, this post is kind of useless, but I'm rather excited so I'm posting it anyways

I went down to Maine yesterday, and went to Borders to look for one of my magazines. Thought, while I'm here, might as well check for a CD I've been looking for. I had looked everywhere in my musically deprived home town for a copy of ANY In Flames CDs and had found none, but they had 7 different In Flames CDs at Borders! So I bought Clayman.

In Flames - Clayman

After that, I thought - there is no possible way in the world that they will have any Dragonforce. I decided, though, might as well look while I'm here. Sure enough, 1 copy of Dragonforce's Sonic Firestorm! So I bought it.

OK, well, I'm already shocked, but I'll be BLOWN AWAY if they've got any Sonata Arctica laying around. Might as well check though. 1 copy of Winterheart's Guild! So I bought it too.

At this point, the bill was starting to get rather high, so I decided to put back the magazine I planned on buying in the first place (can get it anywhere), and buy my CDs

Bangor Borders, recommended!

Re: Yay new CDs!

Ha I dunno if it's just me or where I live it must be the weather b/c when winter hits I start getting into all the crazy metal like Dimmu Bogir, Cradle of Filth(meh mainstream death metal) Slayer, but once summer rolls around I'm always listening to rock and old school rap.

Re: Yay new CDs!

Haha yeah, I switch around a lot, but very literally listen to most anything. The metal is great for me right now though, because I've got an incredibly boring data entry job to fill the time until I go back to school, and nothing pumps me up and gets me typing like 200bpm...

Re: Yay new CDs!

Black metal fuels me year round, but the viking black metal shit really sounds good in the winter. There's nothing like walking outside through blowing snow freezing your ass off, listening to someone like Amon Amarth and taking pride in one's Nordic heritage. \m/

yeh COF just plain sucks. When I first listened to them, I honestly thought that they had a chick singer. And I saw pictures of "danni filth" and still thought that he was a chick. And then, one day, I found out the aweful truth that he's a guy - and I realized "holy shit, this guy has no balls" and I haven't listened to them since. lol

Nice choice with draginforce...i love them. Have you heard of "Hammerfall"? They are somewhat similar to dragonforce, and are very good too.

Re: Yay new CDs!

Sonata Arctica rock, and In Flames kick ass! Saw em live!

Sweet Catch...

I have the same story with Nevermore and Dream Theater. I had to travel for over an hour to even see if this one store had em!

Yeah I love Hammerfall, especially the Crimson Thunder album! Still looking for a copy of it though.

Dream Theater I'm iffy about - some of their stuff is incredible, other stuff is incredibly boring.

Now that the shock of the In Flames CD is passing I've been listening to the other two more and more and loving them more and more - especially the Sonata Arctica lately. I love how their singer sings like Pavel Chekov - for example in the first song, the lyrics booklet says "vengeance", and he VERY clearly says "wengeance"

Re: Yay new CDs!

Clayman is the best In Flames album ever! Following that one i'd say is Colony
I have 3 COF albums and I can't stand them either except 2 songs.

Funnily enough though, Clayman is only #4 in the Amazon In Flames sales ranking - makes me wonder what I'm missing with 1, 2, and 3... (Whoracle, Jester Race: Black Ash Inheritance, and Lunar Strain//Subterranean). I'd heard Soundtrack To Your Escape before buying Clayman, and honestly, it sucks - I kind of bought Clayman on a leap of faith knowing I liked one song on it. In Flames changed from Melodic to Nu Metal (crap, IMO), which is unfortunate. Go for the older stuff!
