Strange Problem I need help!
I have a problem with my 93' dodge ram van. When you put the key into ignition, the check engine light wont come on, but this only happens when its cold outside. I have to leave the key in the ignition without turning the engine over and wait till the the light comes on once that happens it starts and runs fine. During the process of waiting for the light to come on the starter relay makes clicking and poping sounds stops once the light comes on.
This only happens when the temperature drops under 50. I just put in a new battery and replace the starter relay thinking that would be it... I NEED HELP |

Re: Strange Problem I need help!
That is odd. Maybe it's the ignition switch itself, I've seen funky problems when they go bad. I'd start there.

Strange Problem
It's the computer!...
See also Cold Starting Problem. I had this problem for about a year. After replacing the fuel pump ($400) and the fuel pump relay, and on the advice of a former dodge mechanic, I ordered a factory remanufactured CPU (about $200). From the moment I plugged it in back in October, the van has started instantly every time. Even in -20° temperatures. Replace the CPU. It's worth the $200. |
