2000 Power Window Problems - Need help!

Help! I've just bought a Millenium Edition 2000 LeSabre. An older woman owned the car and never used any of the power windows.

The back windows quit working (the motors work fine, but it appears that a cable is broken) almost immediately and now the passenger front won't work.

The motor runs, but there is a grinding noise and nothing happens.

I took a rear door panel off and the motor runs, but cable snaps around and nothing happens, or it goes down when pressing up or up when pressing down.

I've got the rear ones up and locked in position, but the front passenger is down and won't come up.

What is the problem?
Is it a hard fix?

Thanks

Power Windows

First, cable on window regulator is broken. Regulator is expensive if bought at dealer with a pricing of about $300.00. I replaced on on a 2000 Buick Lesabre last week. I couldn't find it at Napa, Autozone or Advance Auto. You can find them on the Internet for about $150.00. The repair is a piece of cake and the steps are below:

1) Tape window up
2) Remove door trim
3) Remove two nuts securing door module and remove two connectors
4) Remove two plastic retainer at top of door liner and remove liner
5) Remove the three nuts securing the window regulator to door.
6) There will be two nuts on the clamps which secure the bottom of the window. You can see these two nuts through two access holes in the upper part of the door.
7) Remove the motor connector
8) Swivel the regulator around inside the door compartment so that the motor will come out first. You want to bring the whole assembly out through the large access panel opening. This opening is on the side opposite the hinges.

Installation is reversal of above steps. The service manual recommends starting the engine to have maximum available power to seat the window at the top. Just be careful when you raise the regulator clamp to engage the window that everything lines up okay. Hope this helps you out!

Terry,

Thanks. I found regulators of eBay. They range from $110 - $180. Thanks again
