Clutch linkage

I have a 1993 4WD sport with a manual transission. Recently the mechanical linkage that connects the actual clutch pedal to the rod that disengages the clutch cam unattached. The linkage is a rod with a ring type attachemnt at the end. This connects to a short rod that premanetly attached to the actual clutch pedal. I can slide the ring back over the rod, but it soon will disattach after pressing the pedal. I am not entirely sure how to fix this as to I'm not entirely sure what broke to cause this. The only thing that i think it might be is that there is a white, plactic material on the ring that may have broken. If so I have no idea what this part may be call so that I can replace it. I'd appreciate any help with fixing this, since it is a bit dangerous to drive if suddenly I cannot dissengage the clutch.
