Unhappy CD Player Error

I really need some help. My CD player on the radio of my 99 Pontiac Grand Am SE doesn't work, every time I put in a CD,it takes it but it spits it back out displaying E20 (Error 20). I have no clue what that error means.Any suggestions what it means, how to get it fix? PLaese I will appriciate your help, since it sucks to drive with out listining to your favorite music. Thanks

Re: CD Player Error

My g/f's mom has a '97 Bonneville SSE....her CD player did the same thing, same error message, E20. I looked in her automotive manual, and there was a series of codes for the CD player, and E20 was on that list. The manual said that the E20 message meant that the CD player needed serviced. I tried disconnecting the battery, in hopes of resetting the stereo, but it didn't work. It still displayed the same message. To this day, It's still like that. And it's been a good year and a half now. I guess you need to take the car into a dealership or something.......good luck, Jay.

Re: CD Player Error

Error Codes On Gm Radios What Do They Mean?

http://www.automotiveforums.com/t183427.html

According to that link:
E20 : Focus Error Cause(s): The CD player cannot focus on the disc or there is an internal focus problem. Correction(s): Try cleaning the disc or using a new disc. Make sure the disc is loaded correctly. The road could be too rough or there is too much humidity. If the problem is not corrected, service the unit at an ACDelcoŽ Service Center.

I would try to use another known good disc or use a cd-lens cleaner and see what happens.
