Just bought 1969

Well I was very excited about buying this car. And i go to drive it home and it does good till 1 exit before my house. It starts acting like the tranny is letting go then catching again, then finally it just all went out. So i went to the stuff and got some tranny fluid cause i noticed it was leaking a little. That didnt fix it. Does this sound like the tranny needs to be replaced or maybe a cable could have snapped.
