Buying a 1998 Accent - What should I get checked?
I've decided on buying a 1998 Accent I've seen. It's dirt cheap and in good running condition but before I do, I want to get it in to a mechanic and make sure everything is ok.
What should I get checked? I know I've heard some squeeking and a kind of Grinding noise coming from the Rear Driver-Side brakes so I'll get those checked. There is also a slight sqeeking from the engine but that's probably something with the Belt that needs greasing. Apart from that, what do I need to check? Thanks! |

My way or the highway
1. Do a car fax.
2. View receipts for work done and time done (timing belt, oil changes, etc.) 3. Have mechanic do an inspection which you'll need to do anyway if you buy it in NY anyway. 4. Best of luck. I have a 2000 and if taken care of you should have little trouble with it but make sure it didn't go for a swim before you bought it. Peace and fire up a fatty as you run through the gears.

Well I know it didn't have any accidents or anything since it's from a family member. I just want to know what I should ask my mechanic to check.
