cant make a decision

damn ive been looking at subs forever and youd think id be able to make up my mind after like 6 months of looking at dozens of brands.. but i have barely narrowed the field at all.. just whe i start to liek one sub i hear another is better, then i hear the one i like isnt that great, then i hear i can do better for the money, etc.

all i want is somethin to give me the best spl possible (although i would still like to keep some sq if possible) that i can afford. I dont care whether i go with one 15 or two 12s or 2 15s, but i just want somethin that will be under 400 (including amp). For example, i was looking at an SX.. but then i realized that it might be unlikely finding a good 1000 wrms amp for like $100.. so keep in mind that i have to buy an amp with that money too.

i would love to hear any suggestions.. even if you juat have any random thoughts post em up.. im starting to go crazy cause i cant just make up my mind.. but i cant do without substage much longer.

Re: cant make a decision

I had 2 audiobahn AW1251's, and a Coustic 240 amp, and it slammed like a mofo. 100$ including shipping for both subs, and 89$ for the coustic amp at REX.... A friend heard me coming from behind a building, over a block away, during the day, in day time traffic. Ive never heard the SE, SX, Brahmas, tempests, any of that, so I've never heard the difference between them and audiobahn, but that system was LOUD, I can tell you that much. I have to say though, it sounded best at about 1/2 volume but its no fun listening at 1/2 volume so I always turned it up. My cousin and I would always cruise around listening to the system at full volume, and whenever I was gonna say something to him, I'd turn it down from 34 to about 7 or 8, and then the bass would hit and it was still too loud to talk, so we would always bust up laughin about that cuz it was so freakin loud. Anyways, I sold that system for 350$ within a week of owning it. A friend wanted to hear it so he got in the backseat, and I drove him around for a few minutes, I turned it up to about 10, and he yelled "GOD DAMN", then I turned it up to 15, and he yelled it again but I couldnt hear him, then I turned it up to 34, and his eyes were about as big as quarters. When we got out he said... "That made my vision blurry, I WANT THAT." so he gave me 350$ for it. If a sexxx is louder than that, sign me up. I know that was a long post, but dude needs some help making up his mind, so Im giving details. Plus I just made it easier for everyone else, all you gotta do is just tell him what subs are louder than that, that he can buy and power for under 400$.

Re: cant make a decision

rick im me rydemenmystang on aim..... and those 1251's souned like arse....no low end even in a low tuned big box they were loud when I burped them bitches at 500 watts each but my sexxx's will eat them up at 28 hz w/ half the power then those will at peak freq. and over full power on each...... audiobahns especially low ends just can't keep up with the loudness of good brands like re dd ect.... yea i thought audiobahns were the shit too when i first got into car audio but then I heard better and immediately sold the bahns and upgraded......plus audiobahns have horrible reliability issues that re doesn't have.

thanks rick thats perfect.. you gave me and the other posters a frame of reference.. and if you got a system like that for 200, then im hopin someone could just suggest a system fo rliek 400 that would hit at least as hard but still have good SQ/ be of better quality.. cause i knwo there are a few people on here who arent too fond of audiobahn.

keep up the suggestions guys any help is appreciated

Re: cant make a decision

shake you up a bit is a huge understatement. The sx, with the right amount of power, will shake your car a bit an then some.
