Question Stereo Installation

Hey,

My girlfriend just got a sony xplod cd player for christmas and asked me to install it for her. I havn't installed a cd player in a car before, but my friend has and told me its not hard to do. the car is a 1999 cavalier and still has the original stock stereo in it. Does anybody know where I can find a guide to swapping out the old stereo and installing the new one. As well, I have heard people say that cavaliers have a weird stereo setup and swapping could cause problems. any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Brad

Re: Stereo Installation

I think only in a 2000+ you will have a prob. you need to buy the harness to fit the car and a dash kit to take the aftermarket radio it is fairly easy and there is a post on how to get at the radio. do a search or i can find it and post.

Re: Stereo Installation

If you get the dash adapter it will tell you how anyway so you will have a point of refference while in the car! Just sort the harness and the adapter before taking the car apart!

I used good old english connector block. Little pastic connectors that have a small terminal screw to lock the wire into a metal tunnel. Can't be beat or purchased in the continental US!! You could solder and shrink sleeve using the western Union technique and that would work best!
