im back

i used to drive my parents 97 escort wagon, which was origionally my grandfathers. it was a fun little car and after i got tboned by a dumbass who ran a red light, it was totaled. it wasnt smashed beond all belief, it held up better than the subaru that hit it, the repairs would cost more than its worth. im lookin to get another escort wagon and was wondering what the difference between the 2nd gen and the 3rd gen are.

Re: im back

3rd gen. has a 2.0 engine as opposed to 1.9 in 2nd gen. 2.0 makes 110 horespower, much better than the old 88. Auto transmissions 97 and up are much more reliable than 2nd gen. Other than that, the redesign of the interior and exterior, they're basically the same car, I've had both styles (a 94 and a 98) and they were both great, but I like the power much better in the later models.
