1998 Chevy Tahoe ABS problem

I have a 1998 Chevy Tahoe that is acting funny. Recently within the past three days every time I apply the brakes and the speed reaches about 15 mph my brake pedal gets really stiff and I hear a grinding sound and I have to push through it to come to a complete stop. When my ABS light comes on though this doesn't happen. I have read serveral posts about ABS and only see 1999 vehicles and above. has anyone heard of this problem. I removed the fuse and the abs light stays on and I am currently driiving it that way without the problem. Any suggestions would help thanks.

Scooterman, My 98 Tahoe is doing the same thing. I'm trying to find out a way to fix it without spending hundreds of dollars on it. It has to be a oneway valve or something like that. Let me know if you find anything out. I'll do the same for you. If anyone else has some advise please chim in and let me know. Thanks Ron
