Thumbs up Dead Cluster..FIXED

i HAVE A '93 GRAND le....I just bought...it has a hard brake pedal (Ive still gotta figure out ) but it had a dead cluster...read alot of possible solutions ...and probly tried most of them ...after purchasing another cluster and 2 bcms...I plugged in the xtra cluster and found it to work, so i disassembled my original and checked some components on the circut board and cold solder joints...I found 2 silicon diodes to be bad
IN5402's located in CR6 & CR7....apparently theses are weak points....possibly even the cause of intermintent behavior.....
my problem is the Fuel guage shows empty and the low fuel lite is on....its not the guage cus ...both clusters show the same...yes i know ive seen alot about the sender...but i need to know how i can test it to find out if theres a short from the tank 3 wire connector to the dash or the run to the tank an sender ...3 wires (DKGRN....DKBLU...BLK) please which wire goes where-to what?
I did activate dianostic mode but only got a 12 .....then 55...
i did change out bcms ....and 2 extra plus 1 cluster w tach and mini guages...1 cluster with standard guages in case anyones interested in purchaseing them ...

Re: Dead Cluster..FIXED

You got it. I have fixed two of these with the exact same diodes gone. I hope I didn't start a secret or somthing.... And I think the blue wire is for the sender but i strongly feel you need a new sender in the tank if you have high mileage.
The connectors usually don't give trouble they are well sealed.

yep,Isaw the seal on the plug...im jus trying to figure out how to get my guage to move or register ....something...i havent fully re assembled my dash ...in case theres a short "in side" the dash...my other question is if the float in the tank is solid or hollow...if hollow then it can be fuel of fuel ...weighing it down ...do you know Geoff
