Question Removing Power Steering Pump on 93 Camry 2.2 4 cyl.

Does anyone know how to remove the top bolt of the power steering pump. I tried several combination of sockets but I can't get on the head of the bolt. If I use a shallow socket the pulley is in the way if I use a deep socket the fender well is in the way.
Any help will be appreciated.

The top bolt cannot be removed. The pump is held by that bolt through a slot in the pump housing. The pump is removed by loosening the top bolt, then the bottom bolt is removed. Then the pump slides from under the top bolt. You need to loosen the upper bolt to remove the other bolt. You may need to remove the fender aprons seal for access and/or use an open end wrench.

(You may possibly be trying to remove the wrong fastener. There is another nut that is behind the pulley and much more difficult to access. It is not necessary to loosen this nut to remove the pump).

Thanks, I didn't know that. In my Haynes book it shows the slot in the front part of the bracket, but it looked like the bolt went through the hole in the back of the bracket that holds the power steering pump to the engine.
I bought some more wrenches that I think will get in there, I hope.

Sorry for not posting this sooner, been busy.
I didn't have to remove the pump after all, the leak was comming from the high presssure hose seal. It's not a bad leak just a few drops. I got a new one from the Toyota dealer $6.00. Will replace when I get time.
